This peak is #91 on the Height List for Yukon Territory . Mount Payer is a remote mountain located in a triangular area between the Kaskawulsh Glacier, and the main and east arms of the Kluane Glacier. The only time most climbers see this peak is on the flight in or out of Mount Logan.

Name Notes: Julius von Payer (1841-1915) was an Austro-Hungarian military guy who became an explorer. He explored several remote regions in the alps . In 1912 he planned (at the age of seventy) an expedition in a submarine to the North Pole. In 1871 he participated in the preliminary Austro-Hungarian expedition to Novaya Zemlya, with Karl Weyprecht and later led the Austro-Hungarian North Pole Expedition. In 1895 he planned a trip for painting to Franz-Josef-Fjord (Greenland) and in 1912 planned (at the age of seventy) an expedition in a submarine to the North Pole.
